Anchient scriptures have a lot of influence in the everyday life of a Hindu. The vedas are an important example of this. They explain how to worship, treat others, and even how to properly build temples or shrines. Recently I visited a Hindu temple, and learned just how important these things are. The entire structure has been carefully laid out according to anchient measurements, and has been built and decorated according to the critera. The scriptures also talk about creation stories, and stories of the figures of anchient Hinduism and the gods.
